This Morning fans were left unimpressed on Monday when Professor Stephen Westaby’s life-saving tips were cut short in favour of ’embarrassing’ Alison Hammond’s ‘gloat fest’ interview.
British surgeon Stephen, 76, was asked by Monday’s presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle to give viewers his five top tips for keeping your heart healthy.
Stephen, author of The Knife’s Edge, began with warning viewers to keep their weight low and recommended the Mediterranean diet.
He mentioned the importance of oral health, and began to give lesser-known tips before Craig confirmed that they had run out of time.
The programme moved on to a pre-recorded segment where Alison revisited her most infamous interview with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.
However, fans were irritated by this planned change in programme.
They wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘No more time for the heart doctor to share straightforward and lifesaving advice as there’s a repeat interview with Hammond embarrassing herself in front of actors #thismorning’
‘He was actually telling us something worthwhile then and you cut him off. Why not cut the Alison gloat fest #ThisMorning’
‘Fancy stopping the heart man just as he was giving vital advice on heart health, and yet they let rubbish items go on and on #ThisMorning’
‘Imagine cutting of an expert telling us how to look after our health as we have a repeat of some interviews! #ThisMorning’
‘All the fluffy stuff they waffle on about – then have the audacity to cut a heart surgeon short – just as he was giving us important advice about how not to die … #thismorning’
‘Let the doctor have a few seconds to give some important advice or promote an old interview – which one did they choose? #thismorning’.
Craig was permitted to finish his list after the break, and told followers to follow a Mediterranean diet.
In 2017, Alison famously left Harrison and his co-star Ryan in stitches when she interviewed them about Blade Runner: 2049, admitting she hadn’t even seen the original film before downing whisky with them.
In a preview clip released by ITV, a glamorous Alison was seen chatting to Harrison about his role in the Yellowstone prequel, over Zoom from her home in Birmingham.
Welcoming the Star Wars actor to her home, the Big Brother insists Harrison ‘led her astray’ during their previous chat, with the star insisting: ‘That wasn’t me.’
Interspersed are clips from Alison and Harrison’s prior chat, which saw the duo descend into hysterics after she immediately broke the ice by bluntly confessing she hadn’t seen the original Bladerunner.
Attempting to steer the interview back on track, Alison asked Harrison: ‘When you got the call to say: “We’re making another Blade Runner and we want you to be in it”, what was your reaction?’
But events again took a turn when Harrison wryly revealed that he had shot back: ‘So what?’
Taking matters into his own hands, Ryan then tried to take control asking: ‘Is this an interview?… Do you guys need help with the cameras?’ before jumping up and taking control of one of the machines.
In 2022, Alison sweetly surprised Harrison with a cake to celebrate his landmark 80th birthday which he admitted he had been ‘trying to ignore’.
