Excitement builds as dancers from past seasons of Strictly return, with an announcement expected to reveal that the abuse scandal was merely a PR stunt.

THE PROFESSIONAL dancers of Strictly Come Dancing are all smiles in the first look of the upcoming series.

Stars of the long-running show have attempted to brush off the abuse scandals as the BBC has released a new trailer.

The new sneak peek of the anticipated forthcoming instalment will first air on BBC One just before 7:30pm this evening.

With the 20th anniversary on the horizon, the cast seem more energetic than ever as they attempt to get the nation excited about the series again.

The show has come under fire over the summer amid an investigation into the practises of the show.

Giovanni Pernice was accused of behind-the-scenes bullying by actress Amanda Abbington.

Graziano Di Prima was also sacked from the celebrity competition after he admitted to kicking Zara McDermott.

But in new trailer footage, the pros wanted to bring the fun back as they encouraged viewers to get back on board with the show as they boarded a special bus.

The dancers were on full display in their celebratory bonanza as the doors opened to the 22nd series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The likes of Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Dianne Buswell, Johannes Radebe, and Neil Jones all beamed as they were dressed in their signature bright costumes.

Flaunting their impressive footwork skills, it’s clear bosses want to start off the show with a bang when it returns later this month.

Jason Gilkison was the choreographer of the new routine which includes a medley of songs from a range of pop artists.

Hits from the likes of Vengaboys, Corona, Technotronic, Vanessa Amarosi, 2 Unlimited, Gina G and Steps are all included in the new number.

Not missing any little details, the number plate of the huge model bus reads ‘Brucie’ in tribute to the original host, Sir Bruce Forsyth.

The launch show will also see a performance which the BBC calls “a beautifully empowering, celebratory dance”.

This is to welcome Amy Dowden MBE back to the ballroom after her battle with stage three breast cancer.

A source said: “They’ve also looked at his BBC contract and believe there are grounds to sue.”

Meanwhile, the BBC also delayed releasing the findings of the probe into Giovanni Pernice. The Sun revealed that the results of the three-month investigation were unlikely to be announced in August.

Star names such as Pete Wicks, Nick Knowles, Toyah Willcox, and Tasha Ghouri will also receive their pairings for the series.

Viewers will catch their first glimpse of the full roster of competitors as they show off their skills in a group routine.

The launch date of the new series will be announced in due course, which bosses hope will feature “glitz, glamour and unforgettable performances” after two decades on-screen.
