DEFIANT Amanda Abbington has “zero regrets” after The Sun reported the BBC is set to discount some of her claims in the Strictly bullying probe.
The former Sherlock actress claims she was the victim of physical, mental and sexual abuse at the hands of Giovanni Pernice – claims he firmly denies.
Insiders said the BBC were set to throw out many of her claims in their long awaited report.
But today a pal close to Amanda hit back and said: “Whatever the outcome of the inquiry, Amanda has no regrets.
“She knows what went on in that rehearsal room. And she knows it was unacceptable. Amanda has given the BBC all the information she can to help them with the investigation.
“Amanda was greatly reassured during her first interview when she was told by the BBC investigators that her account was fully believed – and now it is down to the corporation to release their findings.
“Her biggest concern, from day one, has been to ensure that others don’t have to go through the same traumatic experience that she has.
“She believes the BBC need to do much more to help, support and safeguard those taking part in the programme. But whether they will, remains to be seen.”
They added: “Amanda has had to put up with so much vitriol and abuse. She’s even been branded a mad woman – publicly – by Giovanni after being diagnosed with a mental health condition.
“This was particularly cruel. And she’s been bombarded with death threats too.
“It would be enough to break many people but Amanda’s determined not to let it do that to her. She’s tough and will keep on fighting for what she believes to be right.”
To add insult to injury, last night Giovanni announced he has joined the cast of the Italian version of Strictly in a lucrative new deal.
