Alison Hammond has revealed she is quitting her presenting duties on This Morning as she announced she is taking a break during Thursday’s live show.
Alison Hammond has left fans in shock with the announcement of her temporary exit from ITV’s This Morning.
The much-loved Brummie, who has become a fan favourite alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary, dropped the bombshell during Thursday’s live broadcast.
The dynamic duo of Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard will be stepping in for the summer season as Alison, 49, prepares to take a well-earned break.
Emotions ran high on set when Dermot introduced the news with a heavy heart: “It’s quite sad that tomorrow is going to be our last show for some time.”
Alison confirmed the bittersweet moment, exclaiming: “I know, I know, my last day. I’m going on holiday bubs, it’s time.”
She continued: “Alison needs a break.” Dermot then joked: “We all need a break.”
Alison humorously responded: “Even YOU need a break from me.”
The revelation sparked a wave of confusion among viewers, with some concernedly wondering: “Is Alison leaving for good?”. Alison first captured hearts on Big Brother in 2002, when she was the second contestant to leave the house.
Since joining This Morning on ITV in the same year, Alison has been a staple of the programme. Following her stint on The Great British Bake Off team last year, she has stepped into Paul O’Grady’s shoes to host For the Love of Dogs after his passing in March 2023.
Her television career has been diverse, featuring stints on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity MasterChef, Celebrity Coach Trip, and numerous other shows.
