Madonna’s son David Banda reassured fans he is ‘good’ after earlier comments about ‘scavenging’ for food.

The 18-year-old musician, dating model Maria Atuesta, used Instagram to deny rumors of financial struggle post-moving out from Madonna’s Upper East Side apartment.

‘To all of those concerned, my mother is very supportive of me, she has always been supportive of me,’ the artist began. ‘I am very happy in my life and I am not living out on the streets, starving!’

He concluded, ‘Please stop worrying everything is good.’ 

David took to social media after discussing his humble life in The Bronx, mentioning selling guitar lessons and “scavenging” for food due to financial constraints in an Instagram Live session on Friday.

‘I love it. I’m not on my own, I’ve got my girlfriend. But I love it,’ he said at the time. 

He added, ‘It’s lovely to experience it being nine o’clock at night, me being hungry and realizing that I don’t have enough money to get food and scavenging. It’s fun to be young.’ 

To bring in extra funds, David notably gives guitar lessons online, and prospective students are able to book lessons off his main Instagram page – which currently boasts nearly 52k followers. 

The guitarist notably joined the Material Girl hitmaker – who is worth around $600 million – on her Celebration Tour, which came to an end in May with a free concert in Rio de Janeiro. 

He notably accompanied his mother on stage to play the guitar in front of live crowds as Madonna belted out lyrics to hit tracks. 

Back in 2022, the songstress previously gushed about David during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. 

‘You know he makes music now, too,’ she expressed to Fallon, and sweetly added, ‘He’s going to end up being one of your guests.’ 

After listing off some of his talents, which also includes humor and athleticism, Madonna talked about her son’s eye for fashion. 

‘He’ll put on any outfit and look swag as you know what. It’s really irritating. He wears my clothes and looks better in them.’  

While talking to British Vogue in 2019, she also said of Banda, ‘[He’s] the one I have the most in common with. I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far.’

Last year, the singer notably faced a ‘near death’ health scare caused by a bacterial infection. In April on Instagram, she reflected on David and her five other children ‘saving’ her during the health crisis. 

‘On the day before our 80th show of the Celebration Tour I need to acknowledge my incredibly talented children who carried me through this Journey each of them bringing their own unique talent to the stage,’ she penned. 

‘Rehearsals began over a year ago with almost a 2 month break waiting for me recover from a near death experience. They never stopped practicing… they never stopped cheering me on and supporting me.’

The star added, ‘There enthusiasm kept me Going!!!’ she wrote of her children. ‘They were also going to school and rehearsing every night. !! . am so very proud of all of them.’ 

‘I think what my children learned the most this year of rehearsing and performing is that if you who to follow your dreams, you have to work hard for them.’

Madonna – who is back to writing her biopic – concluded, ‘And if all of them choose something different later in life, they will never forget this year of blood, sweat, and tears. Nor will I. It’s a CELEBRATION!’ 

Along with Banda, Madonna is mother to Lourdes Leon, 27, whom she welcomed with Carlos Leon, and also son Rocco, 23, whom she shares with Guy Ritchie. 

She also adopted David, Mercy, 18, and twins Stella and Estere, 11. 

According to The Sun, Banda also confirmed that his mother has a new romance in her life during an Instagram Live – but did not name the mystery man she is dating. 

‘Truth be told, she’s not single. She’s dating a guy…That’s her life. She’ll do what she wants to do,’ David said. 

It comes shortly after Madonna posed for a snap with a hunky mystery man on Fourth of July.  

Earlier this year in May, it was revealed that Madonna had split from boxer, Josh Popper, after one year of dating. 

‘Madonna has barely seen Josh for months because her schedule was so hectic. Things just fizzled out,’ a source told The Sun at the time. 

‘There is genuinely no bad blood – they’re still fond of each other. At the moment their relationship doesn’t feel feasible and they’ve cooled things off, but they are staying friends.’ 

Also in May, David’s romance with model Maria Atuesta was revealed – with the pair reportedly beginning their relationship earlier this year. 

A separate source told The Sun, ‘David and Maria are totally besotted with one another. She’s his first girlfriend and it’s really adorable.’

‘He’d been traveling with his mum all over the globe but was determined to make things work, so they kept in touch all the way through.’ 

The insider added, ‘Now that the tour’s over and they’ve been able to see each other again, it’s like they were never apart.’

David has shared photos of his girlfriend on his Instagram account, such as a snap as she flashed a cheerful smile towards the camera. 

In text added towards the top of the image, the musician typed out, ‘It was a happy Monday.’
