EXPOSING: New Book Exposes Meghan Markle’s Shock at Royal Housing Situation: ‘Disparity Between Brothers Fueled Tensions’

Meghan Markle was reportedly “surprised” to see the difference between the homes of her husband Prince Harry and his brother Prince William – and it may have sparked the Royal rift

When Prince Harry first started dating Meghan Markle, there were high hopes that they could form a new ‘Fab Four’ with the now Prince and Princess of Wales.

However, not long after Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018, tensions began to surface between the two couples, leading to a bitter rift.

In his explosive memoir Spare, Harry disclosed that this tension had actually begun much earlier, noticing differences between the two couples shortly after he introduced Meghan to his brother and sister-in-law.

A new book suggests one factor that may have ignited this tension – and it all boils down to their living arrangements.

According to the new book, Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, which is being serialised in the Mail On Sunday, Meghan was “taken aback at the disparity between the brothers.”

At the time she moved in with Harry, he was residing in the quaint Nottingham Cottage within the grounds of Kensington Palace, while William and Kate occupied an apartment in the Palace itself. Author Robert Jobson writes: “Meghan had moved into cosy Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace estate with Harry. When they went to have drinks at William and Catherine’s palatial apartment, she was apparently ‘taken aback’ at the disparity between the brothers.”

“‘I am not saying Meghan was jealous, but she was surprised how lavishly Harry’s brother was living compared to where they were living,’ a source close to the situation revealed. ‘It was perhaps the beginning of all the tensions between the couples.’ Meghan understood, of course, that William was in the direct line of succession, but she felt that Harry, as a Royal prince, deserved more than he had.”

Harry and Meghan have been open about their former Royal abode in their Netflix documentary released in 2022. In the fourth episode of the revealing series, Meghan referred to their home as “small”, reports the Mirror.

He elaborated: “As far as people were concerned we were living in a palace. [But] we were living in a cottage. On palace grounds. Kensington Palace sounds very regal of course, it does say palace in the name. But Nottingham Cottage was small.”

In his memoir, Spare, Harry also touched on their previous residence, expressing concerns that it might not meet expectations. He wrote: “I was excited to welcome Meg to my home, but also embarrassed. Nott Cott was no palace. Nott Cott was palace adjacent – that was the best you could say for it.”

Shortly after tying the knot, they left Nottingham Cottage and relocated to Windsor, taking up residence in Frogmore Cottage, a generous gift from the late Queen. They now reside in a sprawling nine-bedroom mansion in Montecito, California.
