In a surprising career move revealed a day after Ruth Langsford’s successful comeback to Loose Women, Eamonn Holmes proposed, “What about a documentary about my marriage?”

Eamonn Holmes has announced some big career news the day after his ex Ruth Langsford made her Loose Women return.

The GB News presenter, 64, is set to be a regular host of The Travel Podcast, alongside his colleague and long-time friend Hayley Sparkes.

The Travel Podcast launched in 2020 and quickly became iTunes’ number-one travel podcast.

One of Holmes’ first interviews will be with Virgin Voyage’s UK Director of Sales SJ Walker.

As well as hosting the show together, the duo are creating lifestyle marketing content for Not Just Travel.

Speaking about his latest venture, he said: “I love everything about Not Just Travel; its vision, founders and incredibly passionate consultants. I started travel presenting aged 26 on BBC 1’s Holiday Programme, experiencing everything from US ranch holidays to sailing the Danube. Now I’m honoured to work with my longtime friend and This Morning colleague, Hayley Sparkes.

“Hayley is one of the best in the business and together we’re going to have fun talking all things travel while boosting the business of Not Just Travel’s network of consultants.” Eamonn’s new role as co-host on The Travel Podcast for the travel firm Not Just Travel will see him and Hayley interviewing guests about the hottest destinations around the world.”

The news comes two months after Holmes and Langsford confirmed that they are in the process of divorcing after 14 years of marriage, having first started dating in 1996.

A statement issued by a spokesperson at the time said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

After news of their split was made public, Langsford announced that she would be taking extended leave from ITV panel show Loose Women.

She made an emotional return on Monday.

She took to her Instagram stories to share a video of the Loose Women sign at the studio as she walked down the hallways. The star also panned the camera to the neon ‘Let’s get loose!’ sign.

Ruth captioned the post: “Back on the Loose! Hope you can join us!”

As the show began, Ruth addressed her return and told viewers at home: “Welcome to your first Loose Women of the week, it’s great to have your company!”

Coleen Nolan, who was also on the show, interrupted to share a message of support. She said: “Can I just say – I am so so happy that you’re back!”

The entire audience clapped as Janet Street-Porter said: “Thank God! Thank God! I was left with her and her!” before Ruth apologised and added: “I’m sorry, Janet. I won’t do it again,” referring to the weeks she spent away from the show.

Loose Women also took to the Instagram page to share a picture of Ruth and Coleen Nolan hugging as they welcomed her back onto the show.

Ruth wore a bright orange blazer and a white t-shirt for her return to the programme, where she’s appeared for many years.

Meanwhile, Holmes was seen still sporting his wedding ring as he picked up an extra shift on GB News on Sunday to add to his regular duties during the week.

He appeared next to Anne Diamond on GB News wearing his wedding jewellery and shared a picture to his Instagram of the two of them together.

In the image shared, Eamonn’s ring could clearly be seen as he posed with his arm around Anne’s shoulder.
