Lady Gaga marked one year since the death of her dear friend Tony Bennett at the age of 96 on Saturday.
In a heartfelt Instagram post the Shallow singer, 38, reflected on their friendship and the legacy of music he left behind.
‘It’s been one year since Tony passed away,’ she captioned a black and white photo of the two of them.
In the photo, Tony is seated in a leather chair, sketching on a tablet.
Gaga stands beside him, wearing an elegant black gown and with her hand over her heart, having recently dedicated one of her final Las Vegas shows to her boyfriend of four years, Michael Polansky.
She continued: ‘This picture says it all. I’m so grateful for my continued friendship with his wife Susan—the legacy of jazz music he left—and for the community of jazz musicians I still work with who all knew and loved Tony.
‘We’re gonna keep on swingin’. Miss you. life is a beautiful thing,’ she concluded.
The jazz legend died on June 21, 2023 after a battle with Alzheimer’s during the final years of his life.
In the photo the I Left My Heart in San Francisco crooner was drawing a picture of Gaga that would later be used on their 2021 collaborative album Love For Sale.
Bennett and Gaga recorded two albums together and played two sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall in August 2021.
Those were the last two performances of Bennett’s long and storied career.
When he died, Gaga shared a lengthy tribute to him on Instagram.
‘I will miss my friend forever,’ Gaga wrote in part. ‘I will miss singing with him, recording with him, talking with him, being on stage together.’
Earlier this week, the Poker Face hitmaker shared three photos of herself in the studio working on new music.
The pop star, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, captioned the post: ‘Just me in the studio—happy as ever making music, feel so grateful, heart is peaceful. It’s like meditation. I can’t wait for you to hear what I’m working on.’
It was revealed during the star’s Chromatica Ball concert movie on HBO, with a title card that read, ‘LG7. Gaga returns.’
In May, Lady Gaga told ET that she had been working on a new project ‘all the time.’
‘I have been working on my new music all the time and I truly live and breathe it. I just can’t wait to give it to the fans,’ she told the outlet.
