Meghan Markle appeared to be snubbed by The Firm yet again as they remained silent on her 43rd birthday yesterday.
The Duchess of Sussex has received messages from other senior working members of The Firm in previous years.
Fans of the royals may view this as evidence of the strained relationships between the Sussexes and the Waleses, along with King Charles and Queen Camilla in recent months.
They also did not put out any statements on Meghan’s 42nd birthday last year; her first birthday since Charles became King after the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.
Royal aides said they only marked the birthdays of working members of the Royal Family on their official social media accounts.
But this differed from what members of the Royal Family have done previously.
The Sussexes quit their roles as senior working members of the Royal Family in January 2020, before moving to the US in June of that year, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But William and Kate shared a message with their millions of followers on social media two years after they left, publicly wishing Prince Harry’s wife a happy birthday when she turned 41.
On August 4, 2022, William and Kate sent a message to Meghan on X (formerly Twitter) from their official account, saying: ‘Wishing a happy birthday to the Duchess of Sussex!’
Their message, posted at 9.01am, also featured a photograph of Meghan in a white outfit and hat taken during her visit to the UK a few months earlier for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Charles, then the Prince of Wales, and Camilla, then the Duchess of Cornwall, also sent a message marking Meghan’s 41st, writing ‘Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!’ with a red balloon emoji.
Since their departure from The Firm, Harry and Meghan gave an explosive interview to Oprah about their experiences of being royals in 2021.
The couple’s bombshell interview sent shock waves around the world as the couple laid bare the extent of their rift with the Queen and other senior royals.
They then signed a deal with Netflix and released their docuseries named Harry & Meghan in December 2022, before the Prince released his controversial tell-all autobiography Spare, published in January last year.
In the book he claimed he begged his father not to marry Camilla due to fears she would be a ‘wicked stepmother’.
Harry also alleged that his brother, Prince William ‘knocked me to the floor’ in 2019 during an argument about his marriage to Meghan.
Since then, Meghan did not attend the King’s coronation in May 2023 and Harry was seated away from senior members of the family.
Harry was also in London in May earlier this year for an Invictus Games event, but did not meet his father during his whistle-stop tour, despite being just three miles away from his father in Clarence House.
The Prince had hoped to meet his estranged father the King during his trip, which follows a previous quick visit in February after Charles’s cancer diagnosis.
But Harry’s spokesman said at the time: ‘In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.
‘The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.’
When The Princess of Wales, 42, announced her cancer diagnosis to the world at the end of March, the Duke and Duchess released a brief statement to Harper’s Bazar saying: ‘We wish her health and healing’.
Meghan’s birthday this year falls on the same day that her rare joint interview with Prince Harry air on CBS Sunday Morning.
The mother-of-two spoke about how she wants to protect her children from harmful content online, after revealing she was bullied by trolls on social media while she was pregnant with both of her children.
She told the television show in the preview: ‘Our kids are young — they’re 3 and 5. They’re amazing, But all you want to do as parents is protect them.
‘So as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there, and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good.’
It is thought that Meghan spent her birthday this year celebrating privately with close family and friends, as she has done previously.
And it seems the Sussexes may also be preparing for their ‘quasi’ royal tour to Colombia, after it was announced the couple would be visiting the country by Francia Márquez, Colombia’s vice president.
Prince Harry revealed he wanted to travel more during their trip to Africa earlier this year, which stirred up a frenzy.
