Peter Andre has opened up about being left ‘devastated’ over an unfortunate accident that occurred when he was invited to visit Buckingham Palace meaning he has never been asked back
Peter Andre has admitted that he has never been invited back to Buckingham Palace after a shocking incident.
The pop star detailed what happened when he originally visited the Royal residence in a new interview as he opened up about the mortifying moment he accidentally destroyed expensive property at the palace.
Peter originally received an invitation from the Prince’s Trust but was left “devastated” by the time that he left the iconic landmark to head home.
When asked if he is still welcome at the Palace, he replied, “Put it this way, I haven’t been invited back since I accidentally spilled black coffee while telling a joke with the Prince’s Trust.”
Peter then explained how the reaction from staff left him mortified as they told him the cost of his error. He continued to The Times: “One of the staff joked: ‘One square metre of this carpet costs more than your house.’ We laughed, but I was devastated. As I left, a security guard at the front gate said: ‘Her Majesty is not going to be happy.’ They all knew about it before I’d left the building.”
The news comes after Peter’s ex-wife Katie Pric e shared a devastating insight into the last weeks of her time with him. The former glamour model, 46, married the Mysterious Girl hitmaker, 51, a year after meeting while on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2004.
They went on to welcome son Junior in 2005 and daughter Princess in 2007. During their time together, Katie and Peter went from serenading each other with A Whole New World to constantly arguing at home.
The couple separated in 2009, with a hearing at London’s High Court judge which took just over a minute. Their split sparked a whirl of mystery and speculation, with Peter refusing to open up about the reason. Katie admitted that the separation hadn’t been her choice, while Peter refused to open up about the reason.
Mum-of-five Katie has now reflected on their final weeks together after she suffered a miscarriage just days before taking part in the London Marathon for charity. She explained: “I was bleeding during the race and my knee was giving me agony. And then you have all the emotional pain that goes with that, all the people I thought I couldn’t let down, and so I had to put on the bravest face I could muster and carry on.
“Because that’s what I do. Not long after that, Pete and I split up.” She has also reflected on how much she loved Pete as she said: “And then I met Pete. I thought it was love, and when we split, it was like I was in a state of mourning – not just for the future but my past.”
“Pete is the love of my life and my life. We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me as I married him for life,” Katie told The Mirror at the time. “This is not what I want and the decision has been taken out of my hands. I will not comment further or do any interviews regarding the separation but I will always love my Pete.”
